The festival featured both Pacific-Northwest regulars and Nashville royalty, and pretty much took over Pullman with its mild-mannered awesomeness for a whole weekend of late-night sets, beer gardens, and I think some kind of breakfast-thing that I heard about.

If Larson Hicks doesn't put this festival on again in 2011, I'll never talk to him again (because he'll be dead because I'll kill him.)

(The child holding the brochure in the second picture is a son of the festival's founder and manager and would probably attack me for what I just said about his Dad.)

Using his face as a springboard (NOT LITERALLY) I built an identity that was spare and literary, but with a touch of irony. His face also had the distinct pleasure of being one of the first things that went through my printing press.

I have no idea how helpful the design has been to talented ol' springboard-face from a quantitative and fiscal aspect, but I liked the design and he told me he did too. I would also like to take this moment to apologize for all the damage his face has taken in the metaphors of this page.

Also, if you want to check out the Stervenson show, you might as well start with the episode in which I am, apparently, doing my best impersonation of an idiot club promoter named "Trent." (hint: it pretty much just sounds like me.)

These cards with the Swedish phrase "tack så mycket" (trans: "thank you, very much."), are part of a series of flower studies that I am doing in a modern, Scandinavian style and printing on my Chandler & Price 10x15 press.

Designed as a 2-color print using hand-processed plates and intended for 3 2-color colorways, I was able to make a great variety of color variations between the 6 color changes required for the initially planned prints. Surprisingly, some of the color combinations I hadn't planned on turned out just as well as the ones I had.

I designed and "illustrated" these posters for a wonderful short film called "Connect To," starring Wonder Russell and Lisa Levan. The Bus and hat from the two posters are allusions to the plot and characters of the film, but stand alone well enough to fill out a poster.

There was originally going to be a third illustrated poster, but those in charge of the film's promotion decided to have a photographic poster made in a more traditional movie-style. I think it was probably a good idea, although the un-made poster still lives in my brain.

I've had the privilege of doing a metric three-quarters butt-ton of gig posters for Stereopathic music over the last few years, and I've assembled some of them here.

I love gig posters for their low budgets, short deadlines, and the fact that their no. 1 job is to GET ATTENTION. Because of the aforementioned constraints, what comes out of the process is usually unexpected and far better than the design that comes from the over-deliberative push-to-the-middle that, say, corporate marketing is often subject to.

Plus, you get to say that you made a poster for a Horsefeathers/Y la Bamba show, which is rad.
